The Finance Department, under the supervision of the finance director,
is responsible for the administration, supervision, and overall planning for
the city's financial activities. This includes recording financial
activities, maintaining the permanent accounting records, investment of idle
funds, the annual budget, preparation of financial statements and special
reports for various staff and council members, overseeing all disbursements
and collections, payroll, and assisting the auditors in the preparation of
the comprehensive annual financial report.
Purchasing: The purchasing agent is
responsible for coordinating the requisition of materials between city
departments and vendors by administering city-purchasing policies. This
includes requests for purchase orders and preparing bid requests for all

Municipal Court: The primary function of
the city's Municipal Court is to preside over all Class C Misdemeanors
charged within the territorial limits of the city. Duties include receiving
and maintaining court dockets; issuing warrants, subpoenas, and notices;
perfecting appeal bonds; attending court sessions; and performing all duties
prescribed by state law. The Municipal Court is held at the Erath County
Court House Annex, 112 W. College Street. 254-965-1442.
Taxes: Funds have been designated for the
city's prorated portion of the costs for the Erath County Appraisal
District, and of the publicly mandated central collection and assessment by
Erath County. This division will perform no appraisals, collection, or
assessments. Questions concerning property appraisals may be directed to the
