Code Enforcement
consists of several elements. It not only includes removal of high grass and
weeds, but includes regulations regarding animal pens and enclosures,
stagnant water, accumulation of rubbish and brush, as well as
dangerous buildings. The
Community Development staff works in conjunction with the City Health
Officer and other city departments in enforcing the Health and Sanitation
Codes. Complaints and questions may be directed to the Code Enforcement
Office at (254) 918-1215.
The City of Stephenville has implemented a one-time "Notification Program." This allows the City to notify property owners once a
year via certified mail of problems. Once
the property owner has been notified, the City has the right to enter the
property and abate violations of the Health & Sanitation Code during the
next 12 months.
The notice informs owners that their property is in violation
and makes them aware of the specific ordinance or code. Once notified
property owners are permitted 10 days to come into compliance after which if
there is no compliance, city contractors will be brought in to do the work.
Property owners are billed for any work performed by city contractors in
addition to an administrative fee. For information on City Health and
Sanitation Code click
